We got to slow down!  But I can't turn down getting out of the house on beautiful days when Declan ask for parks... and new parks!  And a couple of these parks are additions... the Terrain parks are a part of Tartan Park and technically Our Savior's Lutheran Church/School may not be public but a great park where I want to get yearly birthday age pics!

Rolling Meadows-   (Slideless/Easy Park)

This park is in the neighborhood of our Park Tour inspiration family, the Schwedlers.  With our husband's golfing together on Wednesday, Sarah has spoiled us with dinner the last couple Wednesdays.  This week we tried to make it to Hard Park ( Rotary) but a little bike collision has us rerouted past the house for band-aids and ice cream so we just went to easy park!

Declan did so well climbing down the "bumpy slide" like Adam!  He also was carrying around their baby doll and the next day, asked for it right when he woke up and has had Baby Doll near at most times!

Bike and Skateboard Terrian Parks  (Bridge Park)

We stopped here early in the day Saturday before pictures at Target to get a bike helmet from Outdoor Motion and Hutch Jaycee's!  Such a great event!  We are getting Declan a Burley balance bike for his 2nd birthday so I excited to have the helmet already!

We didn't have time to stay long, much to Declan's suffering, but made it back after nap and played for over an hour on just the bridges and half-pipe slides.  He was so giddy the whole time and must have walked 2 miles!  The See Saw bridge was a favorite, but really he could have stayed all night if he wasn't getting hungry!  He attemtped some tree climbing too!

Our Savior's Lutheran Church  (ABC, 123 Park!)

A lot has changed in a year since we last played here.  Declan did everything alone, gave goodbye hugs to all his letters and was just talking and telling stories about everything!

One more flashback!

Park Tour Update- River Style!

We (Andy) pumped up the bikes and trailer at Declan's request for a bike ride and made a wonderful Saturday morning of it!  I would have been more sore if not for my Mother's Day gift massage afterwards- that's for certain!

Oddfellows   (Purple Dino Park)

First stop of the day!  Declan and Andy raced and played tag thru the tunnels!

Riverside Jaycee  (Rollie Slide Park)

The next stop is a personal favorite of mine.  Declan must have went down the rollie slide 15 times!

Masonic/West River

We decided to hurry back over past the Gopher Campground Santuary to wish Sarah good luck on the first of the Triple Crown 5K races in Hutch this summer!  We got to ring the bell and see her off before heading over to the Masonic park and see sawing with all the Schwedler boys!  The four on their was super cute and Isaac did not want to be done!

    St. A's:
Friday Night we took Croix over to St. A's park!  The tire swings are a big hit and Declan made some friends in the web building sand towers!

Sea Life Adventures! Mom's day at the mall!

It is no doubt my greatest enjoyment is now watching Declan enjoying life around him!  So when Mother's Day was gloomy we decided to head to MOA and check out the Sea Life Aquarium.  It was awesome!

He was the cutest all day saying "Happy Birthday Mother's Day!"  That was when he wasn't singing "Happy Birthdy Declan!" to be silly!   Couldn't get him to do either for video camera!

For the New Moms-to-Be... and advice needed from 2+ kiddo moms!

    UPDATED AFTER EVAN...

I have had a couple friends recently ask me about "for sure things" to register for, what isn't necessary and things to do with their new babies!  So since I do love getting and giving advice, I thought I would blog about some of my opinions for new moms to be on their first Mother's Day Weekend and solicit  help for what I will do when Firecracker is here with two now!  Any other tips/opinions you have please let them know in the comments!

    ITEMS I LOVED:

Video Monitor... This helped me tons with being able to lay Dec down awake and give him time to play and wake up slowly... See Babywise below!   I love our Summer brand, touch screen, scannable, color!   On sale thru Mom's Day at Target!

Space Saver High Chair... space saver... says enough!

Research Carseat Sizes... I didn't do this.. pay the money to have leg room for passenger size.  We got a infant seat he could stay in longer with height and weight, but he was too heavy for me to carry around in anyhow

One stroller that works for all your needs!  If I hadn't been gifted some gently used ones, I would've tried for less but we have 3.

Bouncy Chair.. He loved kicking in this and could rotate toys hanging in front of him!

    Aden/Anis swaddle blankets

Lots of onesies... not many newborn/3 month clothes needed!  They grow so fast!!

    Boppy Pillows and extra covers

Blankets and floor toys and books!!

    Mirror for backseat

    UNECESSARY/NOT RECOMMENDED ITEMS:

Bumbo Seat:  Not recommended by physical therapists, drs. and if they have chubby legs they barely fit!  Boppy pillows all you need.. save 30-40$

Swing:  Dec used his for like 2-3 months.  And only when awake as didn't want him to get used to falling asleep.  He would have rather played on floor most times and didn't last long.  Maybe if you have a colicky baby though they could need one.   UPDATE:  EVAN LOVES IT BUT MAINLY FOR SITTING UP AND BEING BY USE IN LIVING ROOM OR KITCHEN... HAS USED SINCE NEWBORN AND DOESN'T FIGHT IT LIKE DEC USED TO.

Swaddles with velco strapping in arms: seen scary stories of not being able to roll back over to back but got to belly..   UDPATE:  JUST FINE TO USE UNTIL ABOUT 2-3 MONTHS OR SHOWING ANY SIGNS OF ROLLING OVER ON OWN BUT I STILL DON'T LOVE FIGURING THEM OUT... Always went to Aden and Anis breathable blankets ;)

    Walkers

Pajamas and outfits with tons of buttons!  I preferred the zippers but some people liked buttons for just undoing legs for diapers... I couldn't stand figdgeting with buttons in middle of night or with a fidgety baby!

    PARENTING TIPS/BOOKS TO READ:

Babywise... Even if book can be viewed as "rigid" by some, I recommend thinking about how you will feel comfortable putting you baby to bed for the next year/two of their life.  If you want to rock them to sleep, by all means enjoy the cuddle moments because it goes fast.  But if you know you'll need your alone time and spouse time, many babies can learn to self sooth and sleep thru the night by 3-4 months old.  I just recommend the pattern of Eat, Play, Sleep, Eat, Play, Sleep... They wake up hungry and rested so they eat full meals and don't fall asleep eating and wake up 20 minutes later.  You lay them down when looking tired and they fall asleep on their own.  Don't create sleep crutches if you don't want to do them for long time.

Baby Signing Time.. I totally think Declan's vocab and lots of talking is credited to this.  We started signing at meals about 6-7 months old.  Love love love!!  It was my guilt free screen time he could watch but we did it with him too.   Loved this dictionary website when I wanted to look something up.

Baby Led Weaning:  Don't waste time and money with cereal, homemade baby foods/purees... Around 6 months just let them start chewing and exploring whatever healthy food you are eating. (I stayed away from sweet fruits for first couple months) They learn to chew before swallow and they love all sorts of textures and food!  Works on fine motor skills earlier too.  Dog recommend for cleanup though.. it is messier :)

Baby Brain Rules., A fascinating brain research book if you have time!

    HELP FOR ME PLEASE!!

TWO KIDS IS NOT SCARY AFTER ALL :)

Advice Needed!! What do I need and need to prepare for with two now!!??!! ALL OPINIONS WANTED!

I know everything that worked  with Declan may be out the window with Firecracker, but time will tell!

When is latest I should get Declan in big boy bed?  He has made no attempts to climb crib, but he is a good sleeper so I'm not worried.  I just like the 20 minutes he'll play nicely in his bed when he wakes up at 6 am, but maybe he'll play fine in his room too?!

Any tips to help Declan understand his role as big brother? New rules he should have?  Toys/tricks to keep him occupied and happy when I'm nursing?

Sit/Stand stroller nice?   YES BUY... AMAZING.

    Separating safe toy tips?

Scheduling outings and days with 2 schedules to keep?  JUST GO, 2nd kid adjusts fine!

    Firecracker vs "Junebug" Belly Pics

So my friend sent me a cute text early on to get belly pics this time around with Declan's help.  Anything I tried to do with Junebug/Declan, I want to try and do with Firecracker but thought this would be a cute way to do it! Our attempt is turning into a bit of a "Pinterest fail" but it is hilarous and fun memories at the same time!   Any adventure with a toddler is fun!  Enjoy comparing!

15 Weeks!  Popped A LOT earlier with Firecracker!  That is for sure!!

    20 Weeks!

    25 Weeks!
Bribery with Easter eggs didn't work to get him to hold sign again... fitting his is wearing his Mr. Independent shirt!  But belly is about leveling off!

    30 Weeks!
Declan is starting to let out his true feelings about becoming a big brother!  But really he just wanted to take pictures with the camera!  Luckily, 10 minutes later he was tickling & telling Firecracker to kick him & to "listen to me!". He has felt a few good kicks & giggles at them!  Love it!

    35 Weeks!
Declan was happy to help with sign this week... for a second and then he wanted to play with magnets :)  But I definitely feel I have majorly popped and dropped and hoping the next few weeks are just barely noticeably/much more!  Nesting has started and working harder than if I was teaching to get my house in order... But still happy to have last few weeks "off" and take a nap if needed/rest back when I over do it!

39 Weeks!   In just over 1 day we'll meet Firecracker!

    Wisc Dells with Wisc Thralls!

Golf, waterparks, good food, shopping and family!  Not much is better than that in my book!

We played Saturday at Northern Bay Lodge Castle Rock Course.  It was a beautiful course and one Andy has wanted to play for awhile as we got to play holes from TPC, Augusta, Oakmount, Firestone & Bayhill all on one course. They have 7 replica holes, including the island green from TPC Sawgrass!  Timmy was the only one who got it to stay on the green!

Andy is hitting to Augusta's end of Amen's Corner Azelea course!

And at Bayhill #18, we went in All Square with our double match play (Tim & me VS Andy & Timmy).  We'll just say Tim and I both par'd it and Andy and Timmy took a longer route!  And we'll just say I beat Andy by 1 and Tim beat Timmy by 1.  As I always tell my girls, golf is the best sport when you can beat the boys!

With Timmy & Andy's loss, they bought our dinner at Moosejaw and it was so wonderful Aunt Peggy came up the whole day to spend with us (aka Declan!)

We got tickets for Chula Vista's indoor waterpark with our hotel!

But Declan loved the pool at our hotel too!  He was a waterbug this weekend!

And they had animal swings!  Declan has to sit and swing on all 6 horses, elephant, pelican, lion and of course the duck!

After the boys golfed one more time, we met up for lunch at Marley's and it was the best choice with a great patio and an outdoor sandbox for Declan, Grandma & Grandpa! Kept him busy before our drive home!

Always sad to say goodbye, but we'll see each other lots this summer with Firecracker's arrival and the PGA Championship at Whistling Straits in August!
